Prevention of contagious diseases
Prevention of contagious diseases

  • Tuberculosis
While the number of people whom become infected with tuberculosis has decreased when compared with the number in the past, tuberculosis still remains one of major contagious diseases of present day Japan. If it is detected at a late stage there is a very large possibility that the infected person's family and others may also become infected. It is important that we all go in for a medical check-up once a year. It is our advise that one receive a medical check-up at the workplace, school or other available facilities and housewives and self-employed persons may get a check-up at facilities provided by municipal organizations. There is no charge, and you do not need your alien registration card.

  • Sexually transmitted diseases
Sexually transmitted diseases do not affect only the person infected, but may also harm the person's family and future generations. Syphilis serum reaction examinations are performed at health centers and some medical institutions with the aim of preventing sexually transmitted diseases. It is possible to receive this service free-of-charge when you get married or become pregnant.

  • Aids
Aids examinations are performed anonymously and free-of-charge at health centers, so if you feel that you may have been infected, please take advantage of these services. Please check with the health center in advance as the days that this service is available may vary from center to center.
